The broads are made up of 6 rivers which connect 40 broads. Thus making 200km of waterways. The broads originated in the medieval times with each broad being dug for the peat which was used as fuel. These broads were then flooded and with the growth of reed, sand and woodlands, together with the marshes make up the broad lands landscape..
Just a short stroll away from your Norfolk Broads Holiday Home is Wroxham where you can book a broads tour or hire a day boat if you want to navigate yourself. One of the first things you will notice in Wroxham is the name Roy’s! Many of the shops are owned by the same family and are very much a tradition of Wroxham. Bustling riverside pubs will welcome you in as you explore the broads and rivers. Fish and chips cooked as it used to be will satisfy your appetite after being out in the fresh air! Nearby you will find a golf course and horse riding.
Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth are 2 bustling seaside towns each with first class beaches. Places to visit include nature reserves, craft centres, churches, windmills and of course numerous shops! After which a visit to one of the many quaint villages to stop at one of the many pubs to rest weary feet! The historic city of Norwich is only 8 miles away from our Norfolk Broads Holiday Home with its 900 year old cathedral, Norman castle, museums, theatres, shopping centre and market is well worth a day to explore.
